MN Bloggers Conference: Date and location set

About a month ago, Melissa Berggren and I started formally kicking around the idea of a Minnesota Bloggers Conference. An event that would bring together bloggers from different niches and verticals from across the state.

I’m happy to report we have settled on a date and venue for the event.

We’ll hold this first-ever event on Saturday, Sept. 11 at CoCo in downtown St. Paul.

Why September? We thought summer would get a little crammed with summer vacations and weekends at the cabin. But, we still felt Saturday would be the ideal day of the week for most. And, given CoCo’s expansive and rustic space (the wireless access didn’t hurt either), we knew it would be the perfect venue (big thanks to Don Ball, our partner at Coco).

We’re now in process of organizing the conference itself–structure, speakers and sponsors.

If you’re interested in those last two items, send me a note at arik (dot) hanson (at) gmail (dot) com with your ideas. We will definitely have more information on sponsorships soon. Remember, our goal isn’t to make money (in fact, we really just want to break even). We just want to get this group together and provide learning opportunities for all Minnesota bloggers (and the chance to meet bloggers from different niches).

So, for now, if you’re interested, block that date on your calendar. And stay tuned for more information and details soon.

We're definitely covering both those topics, Kay. Did you see the more recent post with the sessions listed out? http://www.arikhanson.com/2010/07/26/momentum-g...

I'd like a session on what platform to use: Wordpress.com, Wordpress.org, Blogger, Blogspot.....I suggest that folks who have an expertise should have a blog....the next question I get is what should I use? Not everyone has the patience to get up and running on wordpress.org or even wordpress.com.....@KayLoire
Perhaps part of a "Beginners Session?"
2nd topic suggestion: How to get over the "I've blogged for two weeks and I'm now out of topics, and I'm this far from chucking the whole thing" bump....
best wishes,

This sounds awesome! Only in MN would we schedule a conference around cabin time! We're so cool here. We know about priorities!

I would love to attend!

Blogger Groupie and Dabbler,
Gabbi

Absolutely. Although green and gold will NOT be allowed on the premises ;)

Have room for bloggers from right across the St. Croix?

I think charging would be ok. Maybe a community ticket. If a presenter is looking for a backchannel host let me know I can do this for sessions and also attend as a audience member too. I would still pay, anything to help pull this off!

Sure will, Kay. Looks like we'll be moving it. Just need to confirm a few things first.

We have not--but thanks to you, we will be checking it out. I'll be in touch soon, Garrick. Thanks for the note!

have you looked @ BloggerCon as a model? http://bloggercon.org/iv/format.html

Arik, keep us informed of date: this is a great idea!

Thanks, Kristin. We'd love to see you. And, like Keith, we'll probably take you up on your offer to help.

I've heard that same comment from a number of folks now. In fact, my co-organizer, Melissa Berggren is involved with that event, too. So, we're considering moving the date. More information to come soon.

Thanks, Keith. We will most likely take you up on your offer to help. Not sure on whether we'll charge a fee for the event yet. Working out details soon.

If your charging I will pay and you can count 1 ticket sold! I am more of a comment leaver and microblogger, but have considered doing more in this area. This would be a great opportunity to learn from my hometown heroes! Consider me an advocate and it you need help let me know. I can put chairs in perfect circles.....

What are the hours? The Liz Logelin 5k is that same day :(

Sounds great. I will definitely stop by! Let me know if I can be of any help, Arik.
