About two years ago, I had the good fortune of meeting Lisa Grimm. At the time, she was working at a local PR firm. Since then, I’ve watched as she’s grown into a very talented communicator, strategist and community-builder. Recently, Lisa accepted a job at the Mall of America as their digital PR specialist. It was a new role–and one that was perfectly suited to Lisa. And, talk about a killer job. A special opportunity for sure.
And, Lisa is taking full advantage. In just two months, she is already taking an active role in helping shape and guide the Mall’s social activities and strategies. I’ll let Lisa tell the rest of the story…
Full disclosure: The Mall of America is a client of ACH Communications.

Danny - Thank you for your kind words. While we haven't met (yet), support from people like you and the contribution that you make is so important while wading through the waters. Appreciate the comment so much, Danny. I really hope we get a chance to meet this year:-)

LikeGreat to see a company (or mall!) taking social so seriously and actually employing someone as talented as Lisa for the position. Now if only more would follow their lead, we'd see more great folks like Lisa do their stuff and results would more than likely speak for themselves.
Cheers for highlighting this, Arik (and nice client to work with, it would seem!).

LikeThanks, @arikhanson, for sharing this interview feat. @lulugrimm @mallofamerica. As I work on developing the social presence for Ben Bridge Jeweler, I'm always excited to "meet" the talents behind our shopping centers' social media program. Looking forward to learning from Lisa!

LikeThanks Keith! During the interview process at Mall of America, I remember being so impressed with the level at to which the mall is customer centric. Now being inside, it blows my mind daily how everyone works together to try their darnedest to make the guest experience the best one possible. Most of the time we succeed. There are also times when we screw up and take it as an opportunity to reassess, regroup and try to do better next time. That sounds so PRish, but that's truly the culture I work in. It actually baffles me some days. That's the type of person I am, so I really dig being in a professional setting that meshes with my personal values.
So many people are asking about technologies to be implemented, etc. My answer is always: Before doing that, we want to understand what is best for the guest, as well as the staff and tenants at Mall of America. What good are a bunch of tools and technology if the people who have to operate them don't know how, don't get it, etc.? There are definitely endless possibilities and we hope to get the coolest and shiniest objects in place so long as they're relevant to consumers who frequent the mall and the other peeps I mentioned above. It's so much fun and I'm grateful to be in the seat I am with the crazy awesome people I work with who are wicked savvy PR peeps.
Glad you've had great customer service and other experiences with the team so far. That's the aim. If ever you don't have that experience, I look forward to hearing about it as well:-). Thanks for being awesome and sharing, Keith.

LikeHa ha ha. You had to bring that up, didn't you? It was a culmination of things, but yes, part of my SMBMSP absence had to do with this conversations. Always a hard time I get from you:-) There are awesome things. Some will work, some won't and I'll probably call on you to tell me what the heck to do:-)

LikeLisa you and the whole @mallofamerica team are rock solid and love the fact you put the guest first in all your inititatives first, additionally making it user friendly! Not all Mall Guests are earlier adopters or even from the United States, so love hearing you folks from the Mall talk about the the Guests first!
Also I like seeing making some of these tools fun, which is nothing wrong with that either, because with fun you get mass participation and measurable data, which is beneficial to the Mall as well as the Guests!
Side Note: The @mallofamerica staff is extremely responsive! Was in SD last week and had a little chat about getting a @gowalla stamp with their Sea to Shining Sea Trip (which MOA is on) and got a response in under 10mins! Speaking of that when is lunch out at the Mall scheduled for so I can get the other notch in that trip?

LikeLisa exhibits the same brand voice online as she does in person. She's consistent, articulate and I'm looking forward to seeing her successes at MoA too.

LikeSo this is why the two of you ditched us. I see how it is.
I'm biased because she's a good friend, but I'm excited to watch Lisa kick butt at the MOA. Sounds like some awesome things in the pipeline.
