The 2014 Digital Marketing Staffing Survey

|

One of the ad-hoc roles I play in addition to solo consultant, Dad, Husband and beer snob (my favorite) is that of recruiter. Thanks to my HAPPO work a few years ago, and an innate interest in networking, I’m often cast in the role of connector.

Some people come to me looking for help in finding a job.

Others come to me with open positions in hopes I can help them find the right candidate.

Verifying balance sheet

I enjoy both ends–and often that role of connector is a rewarding one as I can help both friends looking for jobs, and friends looking to fill jobs.

In this role, over the last couple years, I’ve really noticed a lot of movement in the digital marketing/PR industry. Some people have seen their careers skyrocket, as their skills have racheted up in demand (I think about Chuck Hemann who went from account supervisor with a PR firm in Cleveland to group director of analytics at WCG in just four years!), while others have simply hopped around a lot due to an increased demand.

And, as those people continue to shift, one thing we don’t have a lot of as we evaluate talent and opportunities is: Data.

Wouldn’t it be interesting to see some real, hardcore data around salaries in digital marketing?

Wouldn’t it be interesting to know how often good people are approached about new job opportunities?

Wouldn’t it be interesting to learn how much salaries in digital marketing have grown over the last few years?

Wouldn’t it be interesting to learn more about how people feel about their position in terms of upward mobility? (Do they feel they are under-valued? Are they in the right position? Making enough money?)

All good questions. And all have very few answers online (in terms of data, at least).

So, after chatting with my friend Jeff Sauer here in Minneapolis, we thought we’d do something about it.

So, today, we’re asking for 10 minutes of your time to take this short survey. It will benefit us all by giving us useful data around salaries, ambitions and attitudes about roles and upward mobility in the digital marketing industry.

And, if you take the survey before next Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, we’ll give you a sneak peek of the survey data before we release it in posts on our blogs.

So, do you have 10 minutes for me today?
